How Monsters Fight - Wiki - Puria Online
How Monsters Fight
How monsters choose their target, when they switch, how far they chase, and why elements matter.
Monsters on Puria are a bit smarter than in classic Tibia. Knowing how they think helps you hunt safely, especially in a party.
Who do they attack?
Monsters choose their target by threat:
- players who dealt more damage recently are more likely to be attacked;
- players who are closer are more likely to be attacked;
- old damage counts less (after 20 seconds it counts half).
It is still a weighted choice, not a fixed rule: a monster can surprise you.
Switching targets
Most monsters can switch target during a fight (a small chance every few seconds). Many bosses never switch: once they choose you, they stay on you.
TipIn a party, the blocker (usually the knight) should open the fight and keep dealing damage. That keeps the threat on them.
Chasing
Monsters don't chase you far from their home area. Run far enough and they turn back.
Elements matter
Every creature has elemental resistances and weaknesses, and they are applied in combat. A creature weak to fire takes more fire damage; a creature immune to earth takes none. Check them in the Bestiary before choosing your spells, runes and weapons.
Frequently asked questions
Why did the monster leave the knight and come after me?
You probably dealt a lot of damage or got too close. Threat comes from damage and distance.
Can I lure a monster anywhere?
No. Monsters stop chasing when you take them too far from home.
Where can I see a monster's resistances?
In the Bestiary, from stage 1 of that creature.
