Thais, the Royal Guard and its Missions
Captain Harkon's twelve missions from level 8 to 80, the ranks of the Royal Guard, shop discounts in Thais and the Barbarian addon for the Knights of the King.
Thais is the capital of the kingdom and the city where every adventurer arrives after the Oracle. The city is in danger from below: rats in the sewers, orcs in the tunnels, minotaurs in Mintwallin and dragons in the lair to the north. The Royal Guard needs help, and the city rewards those who give it.
Captain Harkon
Captain Harkon stands in Frodo's tavern, north of the Thais temple. Say hi to him. If you never chose a language with Commander Aldric, he asks whether you prefer English or Portuguese (say language to change it later).
He has twelve missions that must be done in order, from level 8 to level 80. Ask him about the missions, accept with yes and come back when you are done: a finished mission is handed in as soon as you greet him.

Kills count anywhere in the world while the mission is active, and you see your progress in the server log. Summoned creatures do not count.
The two bosses
- Grashnak the Bonecrusher, a giant half orc, half cyclops, rules the bottom of the orc tunnels northwest of Thais. He comes back every 15 minutes.
- Morgrath the Ashen, an ancient war dragon, sleeps at the bottom of the dragon lair north of Thais. He comes back every 30 minutes.
You don't need the last hit: everyone who damaged the boss with the mission active gets the credit. Bring friends, especially for Morgrath. Friends without the mission must be in your party to fight the boss.
Good to knowGrashnak and Morgrath only fight adventurers on their mission (and the members of their party). Other players passing by are ignored: the boss and its summons don't attack them, and they can't attack the boss.
Reputation and ranks
Every mission raises your standing with the Royal Guard. Ranks are permanent.
| Missions | Rank | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | Citizen of Thais | 5% off everything you buy from the shops of Thais |
| 7 | Squire of the Royal Guard | 10% off your purchases and 5% more when you sell to the shops of Thais |
| 12 | Knight of the King | the same discounts, plus the first Barbarian addon |
- The discount works with the trade window and when you buy or sell by talking, with every shop NPC inside Thais. Vendol (the merchant who buys everything) is the only exception.
- Your rank appears when other players look at you, for example "He is a Squire of the Royal Guard."
Good to knowThe Barbarian outfit is a Premium outfit. The addon is yours forever, but you can only wear it while you have Premium. See Premium Account.
The royal crypt: Valdric the Oathbroken
A Knight of the King can face the Thais city boss. Say crypt to Captain Harkon and he takes you to the antechamber of the royal crypt, where Valdric the Oathbroken waits behind a lever: alone or with up to 4 players, once a day, with a Thaian Boss Bag in your depot as the reward. Full guide: Valdric the Oathbroken.
The Journal: Chapter II
Your Journal (Ctrl+J) opens a new chapter when you arrive in Thais:
- I arrived in Thais: the day you walked through the gates and the day you met Harkon.
- Missions of the Guard: each mission, with date.
- Places of Thais: the first visit to 12 places of the city and around it.
- Hunts of Thais: the first kill of each creature around the city.
- Bosses of Thais: Grashnak and Morgrath.
- Reputation in Thais: each rank and the Barbarian addon.
The Hall of Thais
The website has a Hall of Thais with the story of the Royal Guard, how many heroes finished each mission, the Knights of the King and an honor roll. Your rank and progress also appear on your character page.
