The Thornmother - Wiki - Puria Online
The Thornmother
The Carlin city boss: an ancient tree poisoned by Malakor's magic, with thorn lines, a vine that holds you and saplings that heal her.
The Thornmother is the oldest tree of the Queen's grove. When Malakor the Mad poisoned the roots beneath Carlin, she woke up hungry. Her thorns now reach the city's foundations, and only the Champions of the Queen are allowed into her roots.

How to get there
- Complete Commander Brynja's 10 missions (in the temple of Carlin). See Carlin: Commander Brynja and the missions of the city.
- Talk to Brynja and say grove (or thornmother). You are taken to the antechamber.
- Stand on the 4 dark marble spots in front of the lever. The player who pulls stands on the spot next to the lever.
- Pull the lever. Everyone on the spots enters together.
The magic forcefield in the corner of the antechamber takes you back to the Carlin temple. Inside the room, the forcefield in the bottom-right corner takes you back to the antechamber.
Every day
The missions are done only once. After that, every day: talk to Brynja and say grove, stand on the spots and pull the lever. Win or lose, you can enter again 24 hours after you entered. Type !bosses in game to see how long is left.
Attacks
| Attack | Damage (group of 4) |
|---|---|
| Melee | up to 420 |
| Thorn wave in front of her (earth) | 200 to 340 |
| Poison burst on a target at range (earth) | 120 to 220 |
| Life drain around her | 120 to 240 |
Alone you take 75% of this, with 2 players 85%, with 3 players 95%.
The mechanics
Every mechanic is announced: a red message in the middle of the screen, and the danger is marked on the floor before it hurts. When the fight starts you also get a summary.
1. Thorn Lines: stand between the lines
Every 12 seconds (every 8 in her bloom) she shouts "THE GROVE BLEEDS!" and 4 straight lines of thorns grow out of her, alternating between a cross (+) and an X. The lines flash green for 3 seconds and then pierce for 280 to 420 earth damage.
TipLook at which pattern comes next: after a cross comes an X. Stand diagonally from her when the cross comes, and in line with her when the X comes.
2. Strangling Vine: free your friend
From the 12th second, every 20 seconds a Strangling Vine grows next to a random player. While the vine lives, that player is slowed to a crawl and takes 60 to 90 earth damage every second. Everyone gets a message saying who was caught.
TipKill the vine right away (it has little health). Alone, kill it yourself before anything else.
3. Thorn Saplings: kill the healers (70% and 40%)
At 70% and 40%, Thorn Saplings sprout in the corners: 2 alone, 3 with 2 or 3 players, 4 with a full group. A green beam links each sapling to her and each one heals her 1% every 2 seconds. She is not immune, but if you ignore the saplings she heals faster than you hurt her.
4. Wild Bloom (25%)
Below 25% she shouts "THE ROOTS REMEMBER!", hits 30% harder and the thorn lines come every 8 seconds.
Strategy
- Knight: keep her in the middle of the room so the thorn lines are easy to read.
- Group: one player calls the pattern (cross or X) out loud; damage dealers switch to the vine as soon as it appears.
- Mages: she is weak to fire. Use fire spells and runes.
- The four columns block line of sight, but not the thorn lines.
