Weapon Proficiency - Wiki - Puria Online
Weapon Proficiency
Every weapon you use gains experience and unlocks perks you choose, from extra damage to critical hits.
On Puria, your weapons grow with you. Every weapon type you fight with gains proficiency experience, and each proficiency level lets you choose a perk: extra damage, critical hits, leech and more.
How weapons gain experience
- When you kill a monster, 1% of the experience you earned goes to the weapon you have equipped.
- Small kills count too: fractions add up.
- Progress belongs to the weapon type. Every giant sword you equip shares the same progress.
- Switching weapons never erases anything: each weapon keeps its own progress and choices.
Good to knowProficiency comes only from killing monsters. Training on dummies trains your skill, not your weapon's proficiency.
Levels
| Proficiency level | Total experience needed |
|---|---|
| 1 | 250 |
| 2 | 1,000 |
| 3 | 3,000 |
| 4 | 8,000 |
| 5 | 20,000 |
| 6 | 50,000 |
| 7 | 100,000 |
Stronger weapons have more perk levels. It depends on the weapon's attack:
| Weapon attack | Perk levels |
|---|---|
| 45 or more | 7 |
| 35 to 44 | 6 |
| 25 to 34 | 5 |
| 15 to 24 | 4 |
| Below 15 | 3 |
| Wands and rods | 5 |
There are 168 weapons with a proficiency tree: swords, axes, clubs, distance weapons, wands and rods, and even throwing weapons.
Perks
At each level you choose one perk out of up to three. The perks you can find include:
| Perk | What it does |
|---|---|
| Attack damage | More attack on the weapon |
| Defence | More defence |
| Skill bonus | More skill while the weapon is equipped |
| Damage vs a creature class | Extra damage against a class from the bestiary (Dragons, Undead...) |
| Powerful Foe | Extra damage against targets with much more health than you |
| Critical chance / critical damage | More and stronger critical hits (melee, elemental or spells) |
| Life leech / mana leech | Recover a part of the damage you deal |
| Life or mana on hit / on kill | Recover health or mana per hit or per kill |
| Perfect shot | Extra hit for distance fighters |
| Skill as damage | A part of your skill added as damage |
| Alpha strike | A stronger first hit |
| Omega strike | More damage on targets below 30% health |
| Armor penetration | Ignore part of the target's armor |
| Elemental pierce | Ignore part of the target's elemental resistance |
| Homing missile | An extra projectile that seeks the target |
A fully developed seven-level weapon is worth roughly +20% effective damage. Shorter trees give a bit less.
The proficiency window
Open it from the Proficiency button on the side panel (next to the Bestiary), or click the proficiency bar between your health and mana bars.
- It opens on your equipped weapon. The Equipped button jumps back to it.
- Locked levels show a padlock.
- Click a perk to choose it, then confirm.
- Reset clears the choices of the selected weapon so you can pick again. Your proficiency experience is kept.
Proficiency and rare items
Proficiency and rarity are independent and work together. Rarity belongs to one specific item (a Legendary giant sword has 3 extra attributes); proficiency belongs to the weapon type (all your giant swords share it).
